It's hard to sit still, isn't it. All week I've been busy. I worked some, spent time with family and friends, and, of course, cooked.
I recently signed with a new agency so I'm waiting to be contacted. As a child I was signed with an agency, purely because my dance teacher was signing people up. I was in Spotlight and thought it would be fun to get some more pictures. Mother took me and I remember us laughing and running down the road after the photoshoot. Mother fancies herself as a joker, and was running hectically, limbs at awkward angles, when we were called back by the photographer, standing in the doorway. Mum's pretence at a straight face as she walked sedately back and collected the proof receipt was a picture. It was always fun then, and I hadn't realised how much photography or agency fees actually COST. It always just seemed to fall into place for me.
I don't have an aptitude for anything much other than dance. I mean, I love to cook, but that's not going to make my fortune.
To me, modelling was VERY easy money. You didn't have to do anything apart from turn up. Your chaperone, usually Mum or on occasion Grandma worked out the route and snacks and did all the talking. You got a half day off school and the chance to have your picture taken with all sorts of fun props. Sometimes a giant Great Dane, other times doing things which came naturally, handstands, or unusual jumps and poses.
Like I've said before, it was easy money, and I kept it going as I got older. But this agency is something new. When I was diagnosed with my illness I had put on some weight. Of course, I'd been like a stick before. Now I was womanly. I was teaching dance, so my fitness wasn't in question.
So now I'm signed with this agency and waiting for go-sees. I work as a dance teacher while I'm waiting. Next week I'll be working, so this is just something that I want to do to prove to myself I've still got it.
There isn't any shortage of work for me as a dance teacher. But I want to see if I can still get booked for a campaign. In the coming weeks, I'll know for sure. However long it takes to be chosen, I'll never stop waiting for the phone to ring.
Hope it does...
