Wheels are turning... gearing up

Despite the weather, we've had some bright moments.  When the clocks go forward and the sun streams through the windows around the same time of year as my daughter's birthday it's time for the big spring clean, just before I have people over.  I'm never 100% happy with the job I make of the panes of glass.

I tracked down a local window cleaner who promised to do a one-off top job.  I'd already decided if he was any good that I'd employ him full time and not have to struggle with these pesky double glazing security windows myself.   I say 'him' but I'd actually thought I was arranging it with a woman.  It was a man who sounded a LOT like Joe Pasquale, which is no bar to him being a good window cleaner, of course.  (I don't have a preference for one gender over another for any job of work, a woman would have been equally as good.) Joe Pasquale-alike arrived very early before I'd even got into the shower.  He had no ladder.  He spent a long time getting the long brush on a pole stuck in the Juliet balcony.   It was impossible to get into the shower with him ringing the bell asking to pop in and retrieve the brush.  I decided not to let him in, and untangled the brush each time, tossing it down to him.  It became a farce in the end.  He didn't clean the frames although that had been part of the deal.  I paid him and he left.  The windows were no better. and he'd missed some out altogether.. the search for a decent window cleaner goes on.

Determined to do my job properly, I've been shooting my part in two scenes of a film.  Why is it that whenever I've had fittings and I know what's required is the time when nothing happens as planned.  The stuntman banged heads with one of the actors in the middle of a complicated fall, which required it to take a lot longer - you don't see Jackie Chan making a fuss, do you? - and for whatever reason Wardrobe decided to keep changing my costume to three different outfits, none of which were a good fit!

A nice enough lad turned up to repair the hot water for the umpteenth time.  I had hoped after all the trials of the week that I could go out with the family for a meal, but it turned out that a promised delivery didn't arrive, and everyone went off for the birthday meal without me.   It's a conspiracy to crush me with the mundane.

Had a lovely 45 minute chat with a new agent, who has some good leads for me going forward.  And I've booked some dance teaching.  Mother is badgering me to make a showreel of my film and TV work.  I really don't do a lot but I know she's setting up a showreel service and is testing her skills on random projects.  I know she's done one for Spotlight which has gone well, but I don't list myself as an actor.  It's not a key skill of mine.  I need to find some clients for her, so she can put her talents to use without involving me.  How to be diplomatic...  Any advice gratefully received.  If you spot any showreel involving me it's not with my blessing...

So a quiet Easter, really in this my most expensive month of the year.  Daughter, Mother and Grandmother's birthdays all at once.  New photos to come this month, also, I'll post one when they're done.  Just headshots.   Speak when they're done.
