I had 20 seconds to comply.... Not really, but I was involved in a Microsoft promo this week. A huge (8ft tall) robot which resembled the enforcement droid in Robocop was in evidence, really effective. The droid would talk to the youngsters - up to age of 16 at the event and if they were mean to him he squirted 'tears' from his eyes. A great involvement device. Child-programmers were in abundance. One decided to fill out her name badge in Japanese, proving she spoke another language. I have no idea how you translate a name and then memorise those complicated letters. I spoke to children from the US, Japan and Switzerland. My first aid certificate comes in handy for these events, as I get booked a lot more, having it.
There was a bank of 300 CCTV cameras from every angle as part of the display. Of course, I walked past to see myself from all vantage points, wouldn't you? Part of the job so I still recorded as 'busy' in case anyone was taking notes. ExCel can drain you, but it's so near to where I live that the travel doesn't add to the fatigue. Yes, there's free champagne, and cupcakes and speciality teas, plus other freebies. But really, I'm promoting these things so I need to know what they're like.
The event was me promoting new technology by giving out childrens' teeshirts. Nice but too small to snaffle.
They all seemed to be enjoying tech and learning all the things the new inventions could do. Of course great catering again.
The next couple of weeks will be busy I hope, I've slotted in my availability and sorted a photoshoot for myself and my daughter in Chester. I've not been before, but I know my family have, as I've seen the famous clock tower and wooden panels in photos.
I managed to take advantage of the shift in the weather by taking my daughter and her friend to the park and managing to catch some rays. I have booked a little break away by the coast because this weather may not last.
Managed to take my Grandmother to the Bingo (which she's forgotten she hates) and watched her win a prize. It's soo good to get her out of the nursing home and meeting different people, rather than just to be with the other Alzheimer's patients all the time.
Today I broke another Guinness world record after last month's attempt. Over 348 pizza bases made (and tossed) to mark the 300th restaurant being opened, the previous world record was 278, so that's smashed. I have no idea of the large busted woman's name who was doing a display of Latin dancing. She's someone from Strictly Come Dancing.
The food went for pigswill after, I certainly didn't take it home after it had been out on the open tables, although some did.
A little bit of sampling saw me preparing and enticing shoppers in a supermarket with cajun cooking or delicious ice-cream which combines things I love, providing snacks and chatting to the public. One man misunderstood combining things and before I could stop him plastered his chili with ice cream. Wonder what he thought of that. Here's me with a plate of onion rings... the member of the public was shy about appearing, so I had to cut her out. Maybe she wasn't meant to be there...
More food next week I hope...
