Sometimes it's nice to get a chance to see how the other half live. I've been helping at a sporting event at a private school. It's one where I've heard of half of the alumni. And the reason I haven't heard of the other half is that I don't mix in the right circles.
Not only was I assisting a coach but I got to ride in quite the most luxurious Mercedes 41-seater just for 15 of us to get to Battersea Park. These things mean nothing to those brought up in West London, but for us East Londoners, the idea of riding somewhere in a luxury coach just to get to a sporting event is something I could have easily got used to back in my school days. I expect these children won't have registered their privileges, and I don't want to be political about it, I think that my enjoyment of the day is enough and I'm happy I get to help out with lots of different children. It just throws up the differences between one side of town and the other, probably something unique to London, so apologies to readers in any other part of the UK.
I've also done a photoshoot (for Virgin Media) where I was supposedly a sales adviser in an office. I don't do many business photoshoots, and I've made a list of more business-like outfits required for my castings. I went on another coach, this time more basic, to get to Brighton for the shoot. It's so easy to travel this way as I get to load all my outfits and relax, just checking my emails on the phone. I will always prefer this to the hassle of driving myself, I don't have to suffer anyone's road rage. I turn up calm. An actor arrived late because he couldn't locate a parking space. He was hot and agitated and then managed to spill a cup of coffee down his clothes. I did feel sorry for him, but the coach was probably cheaper, as well, in the long run. I was so pleased that the studio meeting point was five minutes away from the coach drop off point.
In other news, I have never seen larger sea birds than the ones in Brighton, I have a few theories behind why they are so massive, other than they're a different type of gull. None of them really make sense, though, it's just my mind making up stories to pass the time.
I'm going to be doing very little at the beginning of 2016. After the hectic run up to Christmas and my birthday, seeing friends, and making everything just right for a family time. My daughter had yet another new flatpack wardrobe delivered which meant all the upheaval of reorganising the room.
Cats went to the vet for a treatment, and we saw baby sphinxes who had come in for their jabs. My daughter couldn't resist having a photo with one of the black ones, the most placid.
Also trips to the orthodontist for my daughter, as she's reached an age where they are thinking about the spacing of her teeth. A gap looks cute, though.
So that's December accounted for. I met up with a friend who has only recently started celebrating Christmas, and she bought me some seasonal socks. What do you think?
See you in the new year!
