Here we are again getting into the warmer weather. I'm glad to see my daffodils coming out in my windowbox and across the way from my bedroom window. Always lovely to see the trees coming into leaf again and hear them in the breeze helping me get to sleep at night.
April is the birthday month for me, all my significant people deserve to be spoiled. It usually means that I've worked like crazy to pay for treats, but this year I've pretty much taken it easy so far.
My cheer class finished and we did a final performance for the parents. Not a single mistake from my little pupils and it all went perfectly. I never miss a detail when it comes to performance and it was great to make my little gymnasts make shapes and finishing pictures whilst they were attacking the singing and dancing. We finished on a high, and I was pleased to learn that I've been requested back again for next term. Am now wondering if those same people will be back in the class for a bit more of a challenge or whether I'll get a whole new crowd. It will be a different approach if it's 50/50 as I don't want to alienate the new starters by stepping up the pace for a new routine. I'll have to have two tiers of performers and of course, I need to some new music. Last term I let them choose, and I suspect they'll want to do that again, I just hope the pacing is right. They love chart songs which aren't all that cheer-orientated.
Desperately trying to get mother to come back to aqua-aerobics with me for her own benefit. She seems to have given up any sort of health kick. (We've done NOTHING but eat cake and chocolate over the Easter/Birthday season, I'd show you a photo but there's nothing left.) We always crease up with laughter after an aqua session due to the local pool having some eccentric patrons. There's always someone trying to slip in to the main adjoining pool in their underpants, and the lifeguard becomes more and more exasperated. The time someone turned up in snorkel gear, the man who looks eerily like Montgomery Burns from the Simpsons, the array of locals grows all the time.
I'm keeping in shape by walking a few miles a day (often on the way to assignments) and teaching.
Speaking of health, I decided to amalgamate my daughter's birthday with my mum's. I got them a few hours at a spa in North London. Mother had a really bad back and trapped nerve and has had loads of energy since the masseuse did their magic. But the real joy of the day was my daughter's birthday meant she was old enough for a facial and mani-pedi. She chose some very strong colours for finger and toe nails. One was called (T)Art Deco and the manicurist apologised for the name. The toenail colour was Attitude, Attitude which seemed apt. Mum sneaked a quick photo of her when she wasn't aware, but she's allowed me to use it here.
The treatment bed was heated, it was all they could do to get her off it. I drew the line at having her eyebrows shaped. She has lovely eyebrows and no one needs to get into that before 100 per cent necessary.
Got my mum to have a go being my hairdresser, it's not always convenient to get my stylist here precisely when I need her. She did this (snapshot attached, I must say these snapshots are not very flattering, before you start). It's the HAIR you're meant to be looking at. Not bad for a novice. I'm sure she'll improve with each subsequent go as well. I can now sweep my hair back for emphasis when I'm talking.
Signed to another international model agency as it would appear that the boutique agency I joined has gone quiet (through no fault of mine) and I would like to keep a certain number of juggling balls in the air. We'll see what happens with this one.
Attempting to work next week, so it looks like the painting and DIY supplies bought recently will be used by my mum when everyone is out of the way at school/work. She's better at painting than I am, in any case. I usually end up decorating the living space every two years with running repairs going all year. I have guests and like to keep it fresh. My cats HATE visitors, one hides under the bed for hours at a time. Cats are beautiful but temperamental... Mother stayed up all night with one of hers in the last fortnight purely because it was 'depressed' about her letting a bird out which had been dragged in by one of them. Killing machines that they are.
My daughter also got a custom pair of trainers (why they need to be customised is a mystery to me) and a meal in a local eatery. For a horrifying moment we were confronted by a woman dressed as a potato asking if we were having a good time. As I said, my local area is unusual at the best of times. I can't think of a place where a talking potato is considered a normal dining experience.
My grandmother's birthday approaches but she tells me that inside she is 30, so I believe her. I hope I feel a third of my age when that time comes.
