Autumn is beautiful where I live. Every cab driver remarks as they sweep down the crescent where I live how gorgeous the trees are. Whoever planted them, planted one of every colour leaf just so that at this time of year there is a riot of reds and oranges. It's peaceful and so unlike so much of the rest of east London which seems to have doubled in population.
Not only has the harvest come in, but a long time project has come to fruition. I worked as a background artiste around Covent Garden on 'A Streetcat Named Bob' and I can finally share an off screen photo of Bob and his real-life human.
I'll be popping along to see the finished article this week, doubt if I'll see myself as I was briefly on the bus and in Covent Garden. I really did enjoy meeting Bob while the film was being made.
Things are changing on the audition front, there seem to be a lot more over Skype and upload of audition videos. Short films seem to be the way ahead, I may get a showreel at this rate. And I don't have far to go to get it edited!
I've used my downtime effectively by having ongoing photos done on my days off. My new hairstyle and make up have been recorded and uploaded to my website and sent off to agents. My favourite pic is the one that was completely informal, called 'Waiting'
On the work front, I did a pilot project for a sitcom (more details when it's live), a Nativity-themed TV commercial with children, and a children's film premiere for a themed range of toys. I dressed up as a giant strawberry and danced with celebrities' children. To be honest I could have been dancing in a coal hole as I couldn't see who was there, and where I was walking - a video shot by a vlogger shows me being led through the lift doors looking for all the world like Ozzy Osbourne with my hands in front of me and giant clown shoes hampering my steps. But once I was in place I danced and high fived with all the shadowy figures around me. I even made the pages of a newspaper I don't read (found it online). It still makes me chuckle when I see the photos as it's such an amusing costume. I'm not sharing any photos here. Take my word for it, it was fun, even though the costume was sauna-like inside as I couldn't get the internal fan to work.
Had time to make my Christmas pickles and have a bit of a family Halloween do, which was mainly a carved pumpkin, and lots of creepy skeletons. I bought some stage blood make up for my daughter, which we later discovered would only come off with specialist remover! In future I should prepare the pickles on the day as there is little as gruesome as me with eyes streaming and red - peeling, pickling and stuffing into 11 jars as giveaways for the festive season. Of course, I have started accumulating a stash of Christmas gifts as I've mentioned many times, it's my best time of year.
Can't wait to come back over the holiday season with more fruitful auditions and tales.
