Cheer for cheer

I'm ready for the season.   I'm permanently ready for the season.   Pickles are bottled and labelled and ready to be given out.  The jam eventually came out ok.  Although it's probably the last time I will ask my mum to choose the flavours.  The fruits were quite sour the first few attempts.  Sour jam isn't ever going to be popular.  I've just worked out that she probably wanted the whole batch to herself.

This has been the busiest December for me that I can remember.  Usually work tails off towards the middle of the month, as bookers tend to start thinking about getting away and projects wind up.   This year I've been getting constant availability checks.  And turning things down.   Some jobs are just plain difficult to do logistically when you don't drive.   Finishing work after the last train has left means that cabs home make some jobs unprofitable.  Looking back I've taken work and broken even, in order to get myself known to agents.

I got a great opportunity to take my daughter on a job with me as small groups were needed in Derby. I even signed up my friend.  Her partner decided to drive us and use it as a day's shopping for himself.  We had a such great trip up there in the car.  Their 'Intu' shopping centre is huge, second only to the size of Stratford's Westfield.   We made the live stream and online ad, which was huge fun.

So I've done a couple of Christmas TV ads and a shoot where I was asked to be getting dressed in a changing room.  However, when I got there, they decided that they'd use me in a shower scene.   It's pretty weird showering with a camera over your shoulder and a mic over your head.   I did my improvised dialogue ok and I am really keen to see how natural it was on camera.  Of course, I'll have to keep my eye out for the when the film is released.   And put in on my showreel.

Speaking of large shopping centres, I went to MAC's new location in Westfield and got my favourite shade of foundation.  I really need to get it in a larger container, and just use it forever.  It's the BEST coverage for me, no matter what else I use I always end up going back to MAC.

I love the coverage, so I posted a sneaky shot.  Can you tell how pleased I am with it?

I also did a yoga class.  Although it uses really different muscles from the dancing ones, I find it easy enough to get into the stretches.

My 'other' job also winds up for the holidays, so I took some Christmas crackers in for the children to pull after their performance.  They got everything right on the night, it's surprising how much goes in and gets retained.

I'm eaten up with anticipation for next week; my birthday on Saturday and the big day itself.  Mum's having vegetarian haggis from Waitrose and I have beef.  We're not traditional at all when it comes to Christmas dinner.

It's been a different year from most.  And I'm looking forward to the next.
