No, I really don't mean the Doctor Who variety. But after the pantos have been seen (and the over-talkative cab drivers have told you their life stories hoping for a Christmas bonus), the tinsel has been packed away I am just plotting a getaway to recharge my batteries.
As I've said, fittings models are forever trying on the next seasons' clothes at the strangest of times. For River Island I was one minute in a brightly coloured jumpsuit and the next in a yellow (not polka dot) bikini on a day when snow was forecast outside. All these bras and pants and swimsuits started my mind racing. Whenever I'm teaching it's inevitable that some of the girls will chat about their overseas trips, sometimes four or five a year. Because of my dislike of flying I keep putting off any travel that isn't essential. But this year it's booked. I'm flying off to the sun, I need the vitamin D and the sea and the rest.

My daughter has her new pet - Diego - the leopard gecko. Just looking at him burrowing into his sand and posing on his rock cave in his lurid colouring has triggered my desire for beach and sunbathing. I'm not the only member of the household that's fascinated. One of our cats sits a few feet away monitoring every move. Luckily the tank has a lid.
Since the trip I've booked is during school time, my mother will stay over just to keep an eye on things. Really, my girl doesn't need much supervision at all. She sets her own alarm to get up, and sits and studies when she gets in from school. I'm feeling pretty redundant. She loves to cook and can entertain herself pretty well. Actually, she cooks for all of us when the spirit moves her. A recent chicken and pasta dish was so good that I swear she has secret herbs and spices somewhere that I don't know about. Perhaps the biggest culinary success this month has been the homemade banana ice-cream she produced.
I'm eating healthily to feel good before the break. My measurements are the same as a curve model, so it's really not a calorie counting diet. I have to maintain the measurements for the fittings, but I want to feel energised. Had a really good professional facial (in addition to those I give myself) which has made me feel more me and human after all the hustle and bustle. There was a collision - no injuries - when I was supervising on the coach this month and it did jar my nerves a bit.
My ex next-door neighbours (three girls) came over for a visit and to catch up. They knew my grandmother quite well, and came to pay their respects and see how I am. They also brought me a lovely card with kind words and a very beautiful white orchid. It was really thoughtful of them as they remembered I had decorated my porch with a white orchid in the past. I've placed the pot against my Japanese art and it's so uplifting when I walk into the room.
Keeping my Insta alive with photos every few days keeps my brain ticking over for new shots, including a shot of my daughter about to enter Spotlight in Leicester Place for a movie casting. It was a fast call to get her along as she does resemble the real person that the actress will be portraying in a biopic. We keep her headshots up to date all the time just in case. It's nice for her to get more experience for her drama and performance. Her singing is coming along very well. Whatever she chooses to do and enjoys will be great.
I'm sure I'll find time to blog again before the trip. If not, see you on the other side!
