I'm back after a break ready to talk about my work again. Lots of work this month but nothing yet to show for it... There's always a lead time between turning up and doing the work and it appearing. This month was a TV ad where I was able to work with the lead actor and he showed me the best angles to use for props on screen. Slightly different from stage work, you never know I might need that in future. You never have your back to the audience on stage and all the gestures are so much smaller and faster for TV. I'll keep my eyes open to see if any of my screen-time made it into the final edit.
Like all of you I'm guessing I am upping my good habits and behaviour for summer. Water and fresh fruit smoothie intake, fresh vegetables. My monthly trip to the hair and beauty store for supplies. I'm loving olive oil products at the moment. Looking for new nail varnish shades to complement my skin tone once the sun comes out.
More shots to keep the portfolio up to date, which is a never-ending job, and remembering to update Instagram.
I did manage to freshen up all the white paintwork at home (there's a LOT of white), and somehow give myself white hair highlights. I'm not ready for that look, I'll stick to my copper and blonde, I think.
More work to come and I'll see if I can let you have a preview of what's in store.
There was a pharmaceutical shoot at Waterloo arches, and I had to do my impression of a guardsman (by that I mean keep my position) for a long time. I was mesmerised by the House of Vans display, lit up in an underground window. It was one of the most enticing displays I've seen in a long time, even though it was just trainers in a sealed arch window, it hypnotised me and kept me centred while I was hanging around. I did try to get a photo to show you all how it looked but the flash failed me and it was too dark to do it justice.
My fittings work carries on in the middle of everything, I am a regular at River Island and now have my loyalty rewarded by having a chance to visit the in-house store. I have to say that I love the clothes but believe me I do work for my discount. In a two hour fittings session, I tried 22 outfits and have to do more holding my position while people view it from all angles and then make adjustments to fit my size. I need to inform the team whether the item is easy to get on/do up and how comfortable it is. For example, sometimes, the buttonholes are so tight that the buttons can't be done up, or the armholes aren't roomy enough, or the 'rise' of the trousers is too bulky. All these things affect sales, so the team will be pinning and prodding while they decide the best fit.
Here's a sneak preview of an all in-one. I'm barefoot and the outfit hasn't been fitted yet, so there is a little too much room, but I love it, and will be tempted to get one when it's available. I think it's very Solange Knowles for the plus sized.
Small sneak preview in the changing room. Hair scraped back.
